Have you been to “Redwood Park”

Published by 4now at 3:10 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

meHi:

My favorite time with my children would be Sunday afternoon’s when they would say “ Lets go and get lost mom? .. Getting lost to them, meant a car ride to somewhere they had not been before ending up somewhere they had been before that had an ice cream cone and a park to run, holler and play in.

Have any of you ever been to REDWOOD PARK” in Surrey?  This was a favorite place, where they all learned to hug a tree.  Two brothers started the park, and brought trees from faraway place and planted them in this awesome place. They placed bronze plaques on the trees at eyelevel.. telling what they were and where they came from.

I revisted Redwood Park Last year, on my 70th birthday and the trees are still there and the plaques… “which no one ever thinks about now” are about 20 feet above my head.  I knew they were there… and they still are.

Redwood park with gentle rolling hill down toward the picnic tables.  My children loved to roll down these hills, until the picnic lunch was set up.  Memories are made of this.

You know… that is what scrap booking is about!  What a wonderful wonderful hobby.  Creating memories.

Reminds me of a story…. Many years ago… I was asked to speak at a church group breakfast….

Tile of my speech…. “The importance of hobbies in your life”.

I could not believe my ears, when I was asked… but always up to a challenge…. I wrote my speech and added a little something!

I arrived at the breakfast – at a golf course club room. They had their meeting, and I knew my moment was coming.  But much to my surprise the keynote speaker was not me…. But the local Member of Parliament. who spoke on prayer and manifestations in Public life.

Boy did my speech seem small and petty after that… but what could I do…. Took the bull by the horns and got up and gave me speech… ( which subject  in actuality went along with the MP speech), then I passed out little baggies, in each baggie was a coupla beads and some colored pipe cleaners ( color coded of course).  In about 10 minutes I had almost 100 ladies making a pipe cleaner reindeer… they were soft, cute and so so easy!  What fun that was.

Having said that… I will close with another  neat thought!
